What to expect

Consultation

Call, text, or email to schedule a free, 15-minute consultation. We will briefly discuss your reasons for seeking treatment and determine if I am the best person to assist you with your needs. If we proceed, we will schedule an intake appointment at my earliest openings. If we determine that I do not have the training, expertise, or therapeutic approach to best assist you with your needs, I will provide you with referrals for the most appropriate helping professionals.

Preparing for Your First Appointment

After our consultation call, my administrative assistant will send you intake paperwork to complete before your first appointment. This includes questionnaires and documents for your review. Forms are sent to your email and completed in a client portal through our secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic health record. Paper forms are available upon request. If using paper forms, kindly arrive 30 minutes early for your first appointment to complete them. Protection of your information is a top priority. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

In the meantime, I will send you a welcome email that describes in more detail what you can expect from treatment, and tips for preparing for your intake appointment. I want you to get the most out of your counseling experience.

  • Individual session with your child or teen

    50 minutes

  • Individual session with parent(s)/guardian(s), without your child present. We will review your goals for counseling. Together, we will create a plan for how to achieve these goals, and I will share feedback and recommendations.

We will co-create a personalized treatment plan to guide our work together. At the end of your intake appointment, we will discuss the expected length of treatment and the recommended frequency of sessions. Treatment can often be completed in a relatively short amount of time. For those clients who prefer long-term, maintenance counseling, this option is available as well.
